BETUZ flies high at 2018 ANTUSA
Yet again, BETUZ's representatives at the ANTUSA 2018 Sports and Cultural gala have done the union and country proud. BETUZ that competed at the just ended ANTUSA games produced very good results in all the games they participated in.
This year's ANTUSA Sports & Cultural gala was held at Swakopmund (Namibia) and took place from the 29th of March to 1st of April 2018 under the theme "Lay the ground beyond Sports & Culture". [ READ MORE ]
As a union, we have continued to work with our collaborating educational partners in research. ZANEC has worked through the BETUZ's Research & Projects Department in undertaking valuable research works under the education sector within Zambia.

EI - 3rd World Women Conference - Marrakech, Morocco.
The EI Status of Women Committee held its 3rd EI World Women’s Conference. A number of resolutions were made with relation to women in education across Africa and the globe. More of the deliberations will begin taking effect in various disciplines country - wide.
ANTUSA 2018: Swakopmund
The 11th edition of the ANTUSA sports and cultural gala was this year held in
Swakopmund (Namibia) where BETUZ succesfully participated and won in almost all sports areas.
This year's festival was characterized by a milestone that ANTUSA wishes to begin working toward as expressed in its theme of "Lay the ground beyond Sports & Culture". This move is meant to captivate the regional teachers union body begin to address various aspects that affect the teaching and learners fraternity.
Teachers receive 20% Salary rise
GOVERNMENT has awarded salary increments of between 4.3 percent and 19.4 percent for 2016 to teachers in different grades, Minister of General Education John Phiri has said.

2016 BETUZ Women's Conference
In promoting women to begin stepping into decision making positions even in the teaching fraternity, BETUZ organized a one day conference in Lusaka. Mrs Angela Chisanga, BETUZ Women's Coordinator, spoke on the need for women to be confident about themselves in order to play a successful leading role.
Theme: "BETUZ Stepping Up For Women Empowerment", 19th December, 2016 in Lusaka.
1700 Schools to be Gazetted
The Government through the Ministry of General Education says it will gazette 1700 schools across the country. Minister of General Education, Hon. Dr Dennis Wanchinga said this during his speech at BETUZ 12th AGM held in Livingstone from the 17th - 19th of February 2017.

Labour Commissioner, Mr. Chanda Kaziya has congratulated the BETUZ leadership for the clean and up to date financial records that he always receives at his office. He also couldn't hold his excitement in expressing the outstanding corporate image BETUZ has exhibited over the years.
ZATU is finally born!
ZATU finally formed. After lengthy discussions that have been directed toward the amalgamation of the four (4) Teacher Unions in Zambia, a conclusive end has been reached resulting in the formation of Zambia Teachers Union (ZATU). SESTUZ, PROTUZ, ZNUT and BETUZ all met in Livingstone to deliberate on the way forward in the formation of one Teacher Union.
22nd February, 2017 marks the birth of ZATU , a union with one strong voice for better teacher conditions.
